About this experience
Lai Haraoba, the 'pleasing of the gods', is the oldest surviving ritual performance in Manipur: maibi priestesses dancing the creation of the world, night after night, in village courtyards through spring and early summer. Attend with a guide who can explain the sequence, the hand gestures and the thougal jagoi that closes the evening. Held only in season.
