About this place
Khayang rises above the villages east of Ukhrul town and offers a shorter, gentler alternative to the Shirui climb, ending in open grassland with long views toward the Myanmar border ranges. Tangkhul villages on the approach are welcoming and the ridge is a fine spot for a cold, clear picnic.
How to reach
83 km from Imphal to Ukhrul (shared sumo ₹300–400), then a short drive to the trailhead village.
Local tips
- Ask in Ukhrul town for a village guide; the trail forks frequently.
- The ridge is windy and exposed. Carry a windproof layer.
- Pair with Khangkhui Cave for a two-day Ukhrul trip.
