About this place
Nongmaijing rises east of Imphal and is one of the sacred hills of Meitei tradition, associated with the deity Nongpok Ningthou and Panthoibi. A path climbs through woodland to shrines and a clearing that looks back over the whole Imphal valley, the best short walk near the city.
How to reach
18 km east of Imphal on the Yairipok road; cab ₹800–1,100 return, or shared auto to the base village.
Local tips
- The climb takes about an hour each way. Carry water.
- This is a sacred hill; behave as you would at a temple.
- Continue to Andro village, 10 km further east, on the same trip.
