What happens
Observed every 23 April at Kheba hill in Thoubal, marking the last battle of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, where Major Paona Brajabashi and his men fought to the death. Wreaths are laid at the memorial, the Khongjom Parva ballad is sung, and the state observes a public holiday. It is the most solemn civic occasion in the Manipuri year.
Why it matters
Commemorates Manipur's last stand against British annexation and is central to the state's sense of its own history.
