About this place
Buning is a broad grassy plateau in Tamenglong, roughly 1,700 m up, ringed by pine and oak and used increasingly for camping. Mornings begin with cloud sitting in the valleys below the meadow; nights are cold and the sky is genuinely dark.

About 20 km from Tamenglong town by hill road, 170 km from Imphal in total; arrange a vehicle in Tamenglong.
Local tips
- Carry a proper sleeping bag: the meadow drops near freezing in December.
- There is no water source on the meadow; carry what you need.
- Pack out all waste; there is no infrastructure here at all.
