About this place
At Maibam Lotpa Ching, known as Red Hill, Japanese and Allied troops fought one of the closest actions of the 1944 battle (the furthest west the Japanese advance reached). The Peace Museum, opened in 2019 with Japanese support, holds photographs, letters and artefacts and frames the site as a place of reconciliation rather than triumph.
How to reach
20 km southwest of Imphal on NH-150 at Maibam; any Bishnupur-bound shared vehicle passes the turn.
