About this place
The Noney bridge on the Jiribam–Imphal railway carries the line across the Ijai river valley on piers up to 141 m tall, the tallest railway piers in the world. Seen from the highway above Noney, the concrete columns standing in dense green gorge are a genuinely startling sight and the best free viewpoint on the western route.
How to reach
About 65 km west of Imphal on NH-37 toward Jiribam; any Jiribam-bound shared sumo passes the viewpoints.
Local tips
- Photograph from the designated highway pull-offs; the construction corridor itself is restricted.
- The road is winding. Allow two hours each way from Imphal.
- Combine with a Jiribam trip rather than making it a standalone journey.
